Would your Recreation League team like to play in an MYSA Festival or Tournament or even our own Rochester Fest Tournament in June?
Overview:
Recreation Plus is an intermediate program designed to allow the recreation player an opportunity to participate in competition outside the RYSA Recreation League. Recreation Plus teams may play Recreation Plus games, invitational tournaments, MYSA sponsored recreational festivals, Tide American Cup or “friendly” games. MYSA Rec Plus Overview. Note that if you want to travel to an out of state tournament there are additional rules and forms to complete (out of state travel).
More detailed info available in MYSA Policies Manual
If you have questions, contact president@rysa.org.
Team Formation:
Team is formed based on age, not grade. Some players from your recreation team may not be able to play on the same Rec Plus team, as Recreation league teams are formed based on grade. To determine what age team your players are eligible for go to this MYSA birth year table. If you decide to form a mixed-age team, you will be placed in the older age group and should only do this if you have the majority of your team in the older age level. Recreation Plus teams may roster as follows:
a. U9-U10 teams must have at least 8 and no more than 12 players registered;
b. U11-U12 teams must have at least 10 and no more than 14 players registered;
c. U13-U19 teams must have at least 11 and no more than 18 players registered.
If you can’t find enough players from your current RYSA Recreation team, you can ask other Rec players registered with another RYSA rec team to play. Players can be from different RYSA Rec Teams, but teams can't be formed using tryouts.
All Players must have the same color shirts (recreation league shirts are ok).
Each player must play at least ˝ of each game except for reasons of injury, illness or discipline.
Registration:
Team needs to register as a Rec Plus team one month before the first tournament they want to play in. Coach collects the following and brings the information for entire team to RYSA office: - a photocopy of each players birth certificate - a $20 check from EACH player written to RYSA (covers MYSA fees and Rochester Fest Tournament entry).
RYSA registers team and receives player passes from MYSA about 2 weeks after forms are submitted. Once the player passes are received, the team manager will need to get a small picture of each player and attach that to the player pass, have the player sign it, and then laminate it to take to the tournaments.
Team registers for the tournament(s) they want to participate in on their own.
Cost:
$20 per player cost for registration/player pass/Rochester fest tournament. Team will need to collect and manage tournament registration fees themselves. $85 -$150 per tournament for U9-U10 teams, $115 - $350 per tournament for older teams (check tournament registrations form for cost)
Possible Tournaments:

Forms:
Coach will need to complete and carry these forms to tournament registration and games: You should make and keep a master copy of each form as some tournaments keep a copy.

Special considerations
As a rec plus team, you're still bound by MYSA rules and modifications. For example, if you're in a small-sided age group, you can only play in tournaments that play small-sided games.
