“Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” – John Wooden
This quote highlights the philosophy of RYSA Competitive Soccer. We focus on age appropriate player development and helping each soccer player become his or her best. If we are successful in accomplishing our primary focus, we believe that team success will follow.
Competitive: General Information
RYSA is affiliated with MYSA and is pleased to offer Summer and Fall Competitive soccer programs under the administration of the Competitive Committee. Players from U9-U19 focus on growing their skills and competing against other club teams from MYSA, primarily in the South District League. Practices start in March, and the season runs from May through July. Teams can also choose to compete in tournaments during the summer.
Participation in the Competitive League requires a major commitment from the player and the parents – much greater than Recreational soccer. This commitment includes the time necessary to attend practices, league games and tournaments. Through the competitive league, more traveling is required. Most away games involve travel time in excess of one hour, and most tournaments are around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area or further.
Seasonal play starts in May and runs through the League Championships in late July. To further the level of development and personal skills, it is expected that players will arrive on time, with all required equipment, and be mentally and physically prepared to participate for all scheduled practices and games. It is asked that a strong effort and commitment be provided to avoid conflicts.
RYSA strives to provide a positive experience for developing players and coaches who have the desire and commitment to excel in the sport of soccer.
